The Corum Lab collection, created at the end of 2018, is focused on combining tradition and innovation. The latest Lab 01 models retain the distinctive barrel shape of the case, but Corum has added variety to the range with case materials. In another line, Corum Lab 02, the whole design has been changed, from the form to the combination of functionality and jewelry finishing.
For the first time, the new Lab 01 watch is equipped with a Damascus steel case. The material is easily recognizable by its wavy pattern – it is an alloy used for knives and swords. The history of ancient Damascus steel begins in the 4th century AD, when weapons and metallurgical craft developed in the ancient city of Damascus. Damascus steel is known for its exceptional hardness and shatter resistance. Blades made of this material are flexible, sharp and durable. The use of the material in watchmaking is a tribute to history. But the futuristic design of the Lab 01 reflects the experimental approach to the production of Corum.
The Heritage Corum Lab 01 Damascus watch is powered by the CO 410 caliber. The movement is finished with Cotes de Geneve and has a 50-hour power reserve. The curved skeleton design is specially designed to fit in a barrel-shaped body. The charcoal gray dial is adorned with blue or green details. The same shade applies to the rubber inserts on both sides of the case. The signature micro-rotor is decorated with a spiral pattern and is visible under the sapphire crystal.
Damascus steel case with black DLC finish. Each version has a unique pattern due to the characteristics of the forged steel. The hour and minute hands are filled with phosphor to match the rubber accents to enhance legibility against dark backgrounds. The Corum logo has been moved to the dial. The watch is held on the wrist by a rubber bracelet with a titanium triple folding clasp.
