The AMVOX 5 Chronograph GMT Aston Martin is an exclusive luxury watch that was release in 2011 in a very limited run. Only 250 pcs were produced with a retail price of $20,700.
The AMVOX collection celebrates the long partnership between the watchmaker and Aston Martin. Jaeger-LeCoultre has been providing Aston Martin with dashboard instruments for well over 80 years.
This is a very special edition since it was the first time that the watchmaker use ceramic for the case. The case measures 44mm in diameter and feels very lite on the wrist thanks to the ceramic case with titanium case-back.
The push down crown has been design to resemble a vintage Aston Martin gas cap, while the chronograph pushers look like muffler tips from race cars. The pushers feel phenomenal when you press on them thanks to the column wheel and vertical clutch engagement of the movement. The second crown located at the 10 O’clock position is for the GMT function.
The case has been paired with a perforated black leather strap over black cordura fabric with blue stitching. The materials and color combination of the strap goes very well with the dial design and definitely gives this timepiece a sport car feel without the need of adding big Aston Martin badges. There are only 2 very small Aston Martin logos on this Jaeger. One of them is on the city ring above the GMT logo and the other is engraved on the solid case-back.
The dial design has multiple design elements inspired by Aston Martin vehicles. Starting with the silver pattern on the center of the dial that resembles Aston Martin’s vintage front grill and the Arabic numerals that have been design to pay tribute to the 1960’s Aston Martin instrument gauges.
The features of this dial includes 2 sub-dials for the chronograph, running seconds sub-dial at the 6 o’clock position and a 24 ring that rotates when you adjust the hour hand. The ring has been painted in white and blue to indicate day and night.
At night this piece is very bright thanks to the green Lum treatment done on the hour and minute hands as well as the Arabic numerals and indices.
Under the hood, JLC is using caliber 752. This is an automatic movement with chronograph and world time indication that works at 4 hertz using 41 jewels and gives you up to 65 hours of power reserve.
This remarkable movement includes laser welded balance spring, column wheel and vertical clutch chronograph.
