This is the Rolex Oyster Perpetual GMT Master 2 (AKA: Sprite), reference number 126720VTNR, released in 2022.
A first modern era Rolex to be geared to left handed clients or those who like to wear their watches on the right. Although the GMT 2 doesn’t have an uncomfortable crown, it does make the timepiece even more comfortable to wear if you happen to use it on your left wrist, since now the crown will not hit the back of your hand.
The Oystersteel case is crafted from 904L steel, and as usual, it has a monobloc construction with a screw down case-back and a bidirectional 24 hour bezel. The case measures 40 mm in diameter and has a lug to lug measurement of 48 mm. But since this has a different configuration, Rolex had to create a new dial, new date ring, and new sapphire crystal to make this new GMT work.
The Bezel has a new 2 tone ceramic insert developed in house. This color combo of this GMT 2 is all new. The Black and green combo looks more elegant than the other 2 color options in the Rolex’s catalog and gives this collection a fresh new look.
It does take a bit to get used to seeing the date on the left side but if you use your timepieces on the right, this setup is a big plus!
Besides the date relocation, the dial’s features are the same as your regular GMT 2. Black lacquer dial with large applied white gold hour markers with highly legible chromalight display which was also added to the white gold hands.
The Sprite is available with Jubilee or Oystersteel bracelet and features Rolex’s double lock folding clasp which is equipped with Rolex’s Easylink system that allows you to extend the length of the bracelet by 5 mm.
Under the hood, this handsome GMT 2 is using caliber 3285. This automatic movement is tested in 6 positions and is chronometer certified with a precision of -2/+2 seconds per day. The caliber works at 4 hertz using 31 jewels. Thanks to the bidirectional winding rotor with ball bearings, this movement can deliver up to 70 hours of power reserve.
Other features includes, stop seconds, Paraflex shock absorbers and Paramagnetic hairspring.
