The Blancpain Leman Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar 8 Day Power Reserve is a very special timepiece for watch collector’s and a significant model for Blancpain since it was the world’s first automatic movement to have a Tourbillon with perpetual calendar and a power reserve of 8 days.
This is an impressive timepiece which retailed for over $163K when new. The case is crafted in 18k white gold and measures 38mm in diameter and 12mm in thickness. This case has a timeless design with an elegant double stepped bezel and high polished finish throughout the entire case.
Under the sapphire crystal there is a white dial that at a glance it looks a bit busy but the layout makes it very easy to quickly see the time and the calendar. The Skeleton hour and minute hands were a great addition to the design since it doesn’t block the sub-dials or the main attraction of this dial, the Flying Tourbillon at the 12 O’clock position.
Right below the Tourbillon there is a sub-dial for the day of the week by the 3 O’clock position and a date sub-dial by the 9 O’clock position. Since this movement has a perpetual complication, the dial has a month sub-dial at the 6 O’clock position with leap year indicator.
Last but not least, there is an 8 day power reserve indicator between the 3 and 6 O’clock position.
The dial is gorgeous and thanks to the Lum added to the hour and minute hand as well as the markers above the faceted white gold hour markers, you can read time during the night with no problem.
Under the hood, Blancpain is using an automatic movement, caliber 5625. This caliber is only 6.35mm thick and works at 3 hertz using 308 components, which includes 29 jewels and with an exceptional power reserve of 192 hours.
This Blanpain Lemans Tourbillon comes paired with a black alligator leather strap with a beautiful18k white gold deployment buckle.
